ABOUT
Norwegian-Iranian Marie Sahba is an exciting artist who seamlessly blends her cultural heritage with modern electronic music.
This autumn she has released three singles from her upcoming debut album to raving reviews. Both 'Give Me A Sign' and 'One Last Time' received 5/6 stars from Dagsavisen and they were, together with the first single 'Over & Over', listed and played on Norwegian radio.Her latest single 'Namaste' received 5/6 stars from Aftenposten.
Her debut album 'A Billion Years Too Soon' was released on February 16th 2024 and has received massive praise for her unique sound and story. Together with musician and producer Martin Vinje, known for his work with Sigrid and Neon Ion, she has created a unique musical universe of melancholy, traditional instruments, beautiful melodies, and atmospheric synths firmly rooted in a danceable club landscape. The personal lyrics, in both English and Azeri, spoken in Northern Iran, tell the story of her roots, loss, and the ups and downs of life.
Marie Sahba found her way to H&M's international playlists, the Netflix series 'Witch Hunt' and the Swedish series 'Udda Veckor' with her debut single 'Take Me Back' in 2019. In 2022, she released her second EP 'AZERI BABY', where she pays tribute to her late father who passed away in 2021. The singles 'Fall Apart' and 'Never Got To Know You' were both picked up by credible Turkish music bloggers, as well as radio and New Music Friday. She is now ready with her debut album and has already made waves in Turkey with two successful concerts in Istanbul and Ankara in the spring of 2023 and 2024.
DJ MARIE SAHBA is known for her big love for music and solid DJ sets in numerous genres and styles. Her unique way of reading a crowd has shaken many dancefloors over the years in both the Norwegian club scene and event industry both solo and with the duo CAVAGOTCHI (with her partner in crime Cosmo Kessler). Her diverse taste in music translates into a variety of unique sets such as old school pop, rnb, hiphop, latin, hits from the past five decades, new beats and jams to eastern house, world, funk and lounge. DJ Marie Sahba sure knows how to tailor her sets and create a wonderful experience for everyone involved.
DJ Marie Sahba has played at Blå, Parkteatret, Kulturhuset, Sentralen, Oslo Street Food, Stratos, Grand Hotel, Britannia, Sommerro, Youngs, Internasjonalen, SALT, Pakkhuset ++ and festivals such as by:larm, Trondheim Calling and Sørveiv.
